    • Épuisé par des fatigues longues et accumulées, souffrant d'une maladie de coeur, terrassé par la rude épreuve du désastreux incendie de sa ville épiscopale et de tant de belles paroisses de son diocèse, Son Ex. Mgr E.-A. Latulipe meurt dans son palais épiscopal temporaire, à Cobalt, où il s'était réfugié après l'horrible conflagration du 4 octobre 1922. ...     • Il devient le premier évêque du Nord de l'Ontario à Pembroke le 30 novembre 1908.
      Mgr. Élie Anicet Latulipe was the first bishop appointed in the diocèse of Haileybury, Temiskaming in 1915 (1908-1922).
      He became the chief of the religious Franco-Ontarians during the troubled years which followed the decreed law 17 which forbade the teaching of French in Ontario.
      He was the only French bishop between the years of 1909 and 1922. He died in 1922 in the great Hailesbury fire, where many had taken refuge in the cold waters of Lake Temiscamingue in October. He was succeded by Mgr. Louis Rhéaume. [8]
